In October 2012, the governing body of the United States Olympic Committee designated the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation (SVSEF), and by extension, the Sun Valley Region, as a United States Olympic / Paralympic Training Site for Nordic Skiing. The path to designation began several years ago and arose initially out of the strong Paralympic community in the Wood River Valley.

At next weeks inaugural Economic Summit hosted by SustainBlaine, keynote speakers Joseph Kasputys, Jon Roberts, Bruce Fery and Harry Griffith will furnish attendees with an update on the national and local economic and political climate. Going a step further, these speakers will draw upon their expertise to speculate what the future might hold for our community over the next few years and the audience will be polled about their individual opinions as it relates to our town, businesses and families.
SustainBlaine is planning its first annual Economic Summit on Wednesday October 10, 2012 at Sun Valley Resort to address a variety of local, regional and national economic issues. The program will begin at 11 am and conclude with a no-host cocktail hour offering attendees the opportunity to network and to gain further insight on issues pertaining to them or their business.

The SustainBlaine Advisory Group approved a slate of 3 to serve on the SustainBlaine formal Board of Directors. Two of the Board positions are new and one is a replacement for George Kirk whose term expired. A nominating committee comprised of several Advisory Group members interviewed five highly qualified candidates.
